Q - How many guests fit on the boat?

A - Marauder can accommodate up to six (6) guests. Since space is limited reservations are required.

Q - Is there an age limit? Are children welcome on the boat?

A - There is no age limit and children are always welcome. However, parents/guardians are completely responsible to watch and keep control of their children as the crew have their own important duties to perform.

Q - Do you sail everyday?

A - We sail most days, however, our business is very dependent on the weather and sea conditions. Your safety is our primary concern so we reserve the right to reschedule or cancel a trip if we determine weather or sea conditions to be unfavorable or unsafe.

Q - How far in advance should we book?

A - We have a first come, first served policy and space is limited so booking in advance is advantageous.

Q - How do we book a trip?

A - To book your trip you can either submit a form on the "Contact" section of the website, email or call us. A deposit is required to hold your reservation. Please note that your reservation is not confirmed until we contact you directly via email or by phone.

Q - If we cancel our reservation do we get a refund?

A - If Marauder Sailing Charters cancels your trip due to unfavorable or unsafe weather and/or sea conditions you may reschedule your trip for another day or choose to receive a refund. If you cancel your reservation 48 hours or more in advance you will receive a refund less a $100 processing charge. If you cancel your reservation less than 48 hours in advance you will not receive a refund.

Q - How do we pay for our trip?

A - Payment is required at time of booking to hold your reservation and can be made securely via PayPal.

Q - Where do we meet for our trip?

A - All sailing charters depart and return to the pier in Esperanza. Meeting times vary depending on which trip you are going on. Your exact meeting time will be confirmed when you book your trip.

Q - What should we bring?

A - It's a good idea to bring sunscreen (we prefer that you use lotion on board instead of spray to avoid making the deck slippery), a beach towel, extra money for souvenirs and your sense of adventure! If you wear glasses or sunglasses it's a good idea to have a retaining strap for them. Things to leave at your hotel or guest house are: valuables, jewelry, electronics and anything that doesn't float or can't get wet that you want to bring back home with you.

Q - What should we wear?

A - It depends on the trip that you want to take. If you're planning to swim and snorkel you'll want your bathing suit and a change of dry clothes. If you're planning to take the sunset cruise we will not be swimming so you can wear whatever is comfortable. You may want to bring a light sweater or jacket because it sometimes gets chilly after the sun goes down. Please keep in mind that we have a "barefoot" policy on the boat but you should bring sandals or flip-flops for walking on the docks.

Q - Will we get wet?

A - Probably yes. Although you can choose not to swim or snorkel sometimes there is spray from the ocean on board the boat.

Q - Is there shade on the boat?

A - Yes, the cockpit of the boat, where everyone sits while underway, has a covered top to provide shade from the intense Caribbean sun.

Q - Do you have life jackets?

A - Yes, we have PFD's (personal flotation devices) for everyone on board, including children's sizes.

Q - Is there a bathroom on the boat?

A - Yes, there is a "head" or bathroom on the boat.

Q - Will we get sea-sick?

A - Although uncommon, some people are more prone to motion sickness than others. The boat does rock and if you usually get motion sickness it's recommended that you bring your own motion sickness pills as we are not allowed to give them out.

Q - Should we bring our own snorkeling gear?

A - If you have your own snorkeling gear and wish to bring it, that's perfectly fine. However, we do provide snorkels, goggles, fins and floats for everyone.

Q - What should we expect on the snorkeling trips?

A - When we meet you at the pier in Esperanza payment is expected and we will require each guest to read, understand and sign a waiver of liability. We will then transport you onto Marauder and give a brief safety talk and explain the rules while sailing with us. While underway on our snorkeling trips we will point out places of interest on Vieques and discuss the island's turbulent history. Once we reach our snorkeling location we will get everyone geared up and in the water. When you return to Marauder after snorkeling lunch will be ready! After we finish lunch we will sail back to Esperanza.

Q - What should we expect on the sunset sailing trips?

A - When we meet you at the pier in Esperanza payment is expected and we will require each guest to read, understand and sign a waiver of liability. We will then transport you onto Marauder and give a brief safety talk and explain the rules while sailing with us. While underway on our sunset sailing trips we will serve a variety of hors d'oeuvres and selection of drinks. After the sun slips beyond the horizon we will begin our sail back to Esperanza.

Q - What kind of food do you have on the trips?

A - For the half and full day sailing & snorkeling trips we prepare a light lunch made with fresh, local ingredients usually consisting of grilled chicken and homemade salads. For the sunset sailing trips we prepare a unique variety of hors d'oeuvres. If you, or anyone in your party, has dietary restrictions or food allergies please inform us when making your reservation.

Q - What's included in the open bar?

A - Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are included in the open bar. We usually stock local beer, a variety of sodas, juices, bottled water and our signature pina coladas. While we want you to have a good time, your safety is our primary concern and we reserve the right to limit or stop serving alcoholic beverages to guests at any time. Please enjoy yourselves responsibly.

Q - Is tipping the crew appropriate? If so, how much?

A - Tipping is by no means required but is very much appreciated if you enjoyed your trip and want to express your gratitude to the crew. There are no percentage "rules" or set amounts as in other industries. If you would like to tip, any amount is appreciated.
